Solar Eclipses Gallery
Solar eclipses, when our moon crosses in front of our sun, have three forms: Total, Annular and Partial. Eclipses occur somewhere in the world every year but very rarely over the United States. Below we have images taken by our club members of two total eclipses that occurred over the United States in recent years. In addition we have a gallery of other eclipse events taken by our members.
Total Solar Eclipse April 8, 2024
The total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024 passed across North America, with the path of totality stretching from Mexico through the central/eastern United States and into Canada. It was notable for its long duration, nearly twice as long as the 2017 U.S. eclipse, and several club members traveled to the path of totality to capture these beautiful images of this celestial event.

Total Solar Eclipse August 21, 2017
August 21, 2017 was a big day for astronomers near Asheville, North Carolina, as the path of totality was within a short drive. The weather was clear and our celestial neighbors put on a beautiful show! Take a look at what some of our club members photographed on that historic day.
